There is a certain something coming up in 2012... to do with the magnetic field, I think it is. they do expect some possible effects from it, such as some sallitites not working and such, possible electrical overloads. that's a matter of the the rotation of the earth and a predictible longterm (10s of centuries) adjustment it goes thru as a result. but, no, doesn't seem we are going to get sucked into the milky way or nothin' from it. and the Mayan calander always ends and then begins again... if not for those pesky conquistadoes, we'd probably have the next tablet to read.
