As you know I favor the dynamism and freedom over the extra security that is attempted through this bill. That's largely for their own sake, but also because government attempts at extra security often actually make people less secure after you count their indirect and often (but not always) unintended negative consequences.

It identified two points and mislabeled them as "the" two sides of the debate. It is a subtile way of manipulating the debate that requires critical reading skills to identify. It appears you missed the manipulation.

The question is simply: Do we want to destroy a system with a few minor problems and turn it into a government boondoggle?

This would turn the entire population into government chattel.
