He already confessed in another court. Why should that trial have been canceled by Obama?

As to your question - here are a few reasons:

He's not a citizen or resident of the US. In a military trial he won't be as able to turn the trial into a podium. The rules of evidence are different so in a civilian court, he's more likely to get off.
