I sort of like the idea of a "War Tax." In fact, I think it would be a great idea to carry the same concept to all phases of taxation. We could have a "Welfare Tax," a "DoD Tax," an "Education Tax," etc. People should know how much of their annual tax liability is going for various gov't expenses. If our favorite Uncle wants to spend more on some segment or another, they can raise the taxes on that particular segment.

One of the consequences I'd expect from such itemization would be a refusal of some people to pay for things they disagree with. And, I'm really in favor of a tax revolt. If liberals refuse to pay their portion of taxes for the military and conservatives refuse to pay their share of sex education in the schools, we'd finally have something the different factions could unite about.
