i should also mention that when it was published, The Weight of the Yen was almost a perfect contrary indicator for JPY bull market. JPY at the time (early 1995), was at 85, but proceeded to cr*sh all the way to 149. still not back to where it was when Murphy wrote the book nearly 15 yrs ago. would have been better for him if his title had gotten scrambled with Kundera's and come out as: The Unbearable Lightness of the Yen. still, i greatly enjoyed this book along with Japan's Policy Trap, by Murphy and Mikuni. lots of info on dollar-yen in the 1980s and Plaza Accord negotiations.
