You're right, of course, and I know it. My comment is intended more as a call for people to distinguish between them than an observation.

What "scientist" could win grant money for an anthropomorphic (man-made) global warming project if they didn't already believe in it, and let on to that fact in their grant request or proposal? How many funding sources would put up the money for such a study if they thought the result of their $10 million grant was likely to be, "Don't worry, man isn't the cause. It's a natural trend that we can't stop and will eventually be reversed."?

These people aren't wildcatters. They draw the conclusion first, then find the science to back it up. And they find absolute idiots with huge mouths like Al Gore to lobby for their cause.
