We had a somewhat benevolent dictator in Bush.

I fear Obama's idea of a benevolent dictatorship would be a committee that deliberates for at least six months. And then reaches a compromise.

Happy Thanksgiving back to you, and all who grace this thread!

"...John Ruskin had persuaded the Rhodes Round Table that the way to federate the world was along socialist lines, i.e.,by having all property, industry, agriculture, communications, transportation, education and political affairs in the hands of a small cadre of financially-controlled political leaders who would organize the world and its peoples in a way that would compel everyone to do what is good for the new world-society".

Ruskin was the son of a wealthy wine merchant who graduated from Oxford and returned there as a professor. He was a disciple of Plato's three class society, ruling class, the military class and the worker class. He had great influence on Cecil Rhodes of Rhodes Scholarship fame. Rhodes, BTW, owned the De Beers Diamond mines and mucho gold production in South Africa.

Hope your day was as much fun as ours....didn't go until later this afternoon, had a lovely meal with kids and grandkids....even some who are lefties were on their better behavior...afterwards adults and young adults all watched the Pixar film "Up"....it is so very cute, that all of us were engrossed, even the Pug Otto... I missed the beginning of Up, so will have to go get it again....<ggg>

We have the series of Horatio Hornblower DVDs and some are watching or rewatching the first one now....promises to be a quiet, and busy weekend....
