I've been reading up on Jurgen Moltmann this evening. He's a German theologian born in 1926. This quote from one of his books struck me with meaning for these days...

"Presumption is a premature, selfwilled anticipation of the fulfillment of what we hope for from God. Despair is the premature, arbitrary anticipation of the non-fulfillment of what we hope for from God."

Why many liberals are upset with Obama and congress:

This weeks Newsweek's My Turn is by Charles Peters founding editor of the Washington Monthly.

He starts by saying: "I will be turning 83 next month, and I find myself wanting to get across a few things I have learned during these years.

1) Troops should be limited to one deployment.

2) The top income tax should be raised to 70%.

3) FDR's Harry Hopkins created 4 million jobs in just two months in 33/34.

4) American efforts to help the Karzai regime are doomed.

I have a few years to go to get to 83, but I know Peterson is correct on every single point above.
