Obama told us during the election he was for Afghanistan, and for getting out of Iraq. we are slated to be withdrawing from Iraq. And he is doing what he said re Afghanistan, some might differ on it but it's not a 'promise broken'.

One thing I do trust in terms of this decision is that he has taken in an overall view of the situation plus heard all countering arguments. not every general is 'for' any rise, or for a certain number of troops.

And about Afghanistan that is not Vietnam: we broke with an overwhelming support of the American people. that brings an obligation that is more than saying now "ah, y'all is corrupt so we are leaving".

One thing that can be very the same between left & right is something like isolationism. the right might like some wars, but not working closely with countries on other things. the left might send some money for humanitarian things but otherwise like to live in cocoon from the world. cocoon days have been over for a long day.
