Hi Koan,

I saw lots cargo planes at the airport this afternoon. With the pickup in activity I'm sure plenty of folks are going back to work. In addition to refueling, there are also major cargo resorting/repackaging facilities, aircraft maintenance hangers, and a flight training simulator.

On a more sober note, I think the oil industry is going to really play hardball with Alaska over the production tax increases that Palin and the liberals/moderates rammed through. Big oil is shifting exploration/development emphasis from state to federal leases, and making all sorts of dire noises about fiscal certainty for the gasline. There's even talk of shutting down the oil pipeline in ten years. I'm guessing there will be a legislative fight over the taxation issue, perhaps in 2011.
