Day traders and these brokerages that used super fast computers to trade before anyone else get in would HATE it! A typical day trader might make a couple of hundred trades in a day.

There is. I've seen the numbers on it. A tax of .25% on each trade would barely affect any traders other than day traders and high-frequency traders, and would raise hundreds of billions.
