how the liberals can so brazenly ignore lawbreakers, as long as they are FOBs

This is nothing new. It should really be FOPs - friends of politicians. Politicians in power have the power to do favors - and they do - in return for a favor to them. Been going on forever. That's what politics is. Doesn't matter what side you're on.

Henry Kissinger used to quote Lord Acton: “Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” - although he left off the last sentence.

All you have to do is look at the pictures of those White House crashers of Obama's first State Dinner to understand what whores politicians are. There they are with a smiling Rhambo, Biden and most incredibly, Obama holding hands and smiling magnanimously.

You see this at every level - it was described as the "Peter Principle" once.

Simply: Power corrupts.

Once they get "power," they don't think about the laws they're breaking - they have a job to do. And it's not just laws on the books they're breaking: It's a sense of fairness they lose; decency is put on the shelf because the other side has attacked so egregiously, they have to react. The ends justify the means and they truly believe that. (I stole that last line from you. LOL)
