Whether the entire 11% difference is or not is unimportant.

Of course it's important. I suspect that well under one percent of the difference is attributable to mammograms under 50 when you consider the vast numbers variables and confounding factors and the vast difference in the scope of the populations being considered. There's a whole lot of difference between zero and 11.

So, it's important as a matter of principle because willful ignorance is sad and dehumanizing and because lying is even worse. It's important practically because people may make important decisions based on bad information. The former is important regardless of the size of the difference. The latter is even more important when the size is significant.
