Like a medieval priesthood, it's all about the money and power <By the late 1990's, lots of jobs depended on the idea that carbon emissions caused global warming. Many of them were bureaucratic, but there were a lot of science jobs created too. I was on that gravy train, making a high wage in a science job that would not have existed if we didn't believe carbon emissions caused global warming. And so were lots of people around me; and there were international conferences full of such people. And we had political support, the ear of government, big budgets, and we felt fairly important and useful (well, I did anyway). It was great. We were working to save the planet! > Being a Brownshirt in the Nazis was great too! It's a trap regularly sprung on tribal humans who get great value from belonging to hierarchical kleptocratic power structures. The cause doesn't matter as long as there's power and cash flow. Then people can pile on and enjoy the benefits of belonging. Charities, political parties, business associations, trade unions, medical guilds, lawyers being especially bad because they write the laws. These so-called scientists have formed their own Global Warming Guild for financial benefit, power over others and personal identity through belonging to a tribal hierarchical territorial kleptocratic warmonger government-backed cartel. What are they going to do if they have to get real jobs earning a living doing something useful which other people want to buy? They had better keep the game and cash flowing. Mqurice
