India power shortages In a press release, power expert Shankar Sharma of the MGP said: "The government has declared there will be a 12-hour power cut daily in rural areas, 4 hours in urban areas and one hour in Bangalore. We have filed a complaint before the KERC stating this discriminatory policy violates Article 14 of the Constitution that deals with equality before law.
