i've been reading some comments (yes they are 'anonymous', but they are from an individual who knows tiger well, played golf with him and against him when he was a teenager and he says that woods' temper is legendary....and says that IMD works DILIGENTLY to keep his foibles under wraps (like duh), but that they will have a tough time keeping him below the radar screen on this incident,

iow, it will follow him....i thought his comments were interesting, as he told people he would be meeting with some fellow pros and here he addresses some points that were brought up in the thread discussion (please note that his comments NOT PG RATED) the first post is before he meets with his golfing buddies, second is after

What's out? Rumors? Of course - read the thread. The National Inq story came out a couple days ago. The true details of last night won't get out. This story will get spun like nothing even the Beltway has seen.

Like I said, we've been waiting for Team Tiger to be put to a real test. He is IMG's golden child. He has made them $75m+ directly and hundreds of millions indirectly. Throw in Nike, Gatorade, AmEx, et al and you're talking about a kabal.

I've had 5 phone calls already tonight from buddies talking about this - 2 of whom you would know if you watched golf on tv. Nobody cares what happened - but they ARE ALL so excited to see if the Curtain of Oz is going to come down. I'm actually on my way out to grab a beer with one of them right now to discuss this. They are giddy. Not with schadenfreude or jealousy, but out of sheer curiosity if Eldrick will withstand the storm. You have to understand the golf heirarchy. There is Tiger...then Phil....then about 400 levels down you get to the next top guys. It's actually pretty funny how excited everyone is to see how IMG is going to put this Humpty Dumpty back together again.

By the way, all 5 (6 if you add my wife) have the exact same theory of what happened.

----------

Beers were fun tonight. For the first time in my entire life it was like being junior high school girls talking shit. Let me address a couple things not PG rated :

1) Tiger is the greatest talent golf has ever seen. Is he the best golfer ever? Not yet. Jack had 18 majors plus 19 (something like that) 2nds. He is the best ever. Eldrick can become the best ever, not there, but the most talented ever. I personally can't stand him. Known of him since I was 6, known him (sort of) since I was 10, played against him until I was 18. He is a world-class cocksucking, douchebag, fuckhead, asshat. But the greatest talent the game has ever seen.

2) Fluff's firing was done before he was hired. When Tiger came on tour he needed an old-school caddy that had been around every course. It was never a long-range plan. Fluff tried to become bigger than just a caddy and Team Tiger would never stand for that. This is a recurring theme.

3) Steve Williams is an incredible caddy. He worked for Norman and Floyd - tough to get better training than that. He worked hard, he wasn't going to write a book, he didn't have a mustache that people talked about. He was a quiet kiwi that worked his ass off. Perfect for Team Tiger.

4) Butch Harmon is a douchebag. But he's a helluva coach. He convinced Team Tiger (this is so much bigger than just Eldrick) that he had to learn to hit a fade and not a draw to control his shots. This is after he won the Masters by a billion shots. They rebuilt his swing and taught him the stinger. Everyone on tour knew that if Tiger continued to hit draws he would never win a US Open or learn to control his irons. You can't with a draw. Butch changed his swing - it was on the cover of Time Magazine for god's sakes. Tiger turning to a fade changed the history of golf. But once again, Butch tried to become bigger than Team Tiger, especially with Adam Scott.

Ok, nobody cares about the golf stuff. The gossip stuff. Pros are freaked out. They all have girlfriends and they're all about to get grilled by the Mrs. Quote of the night, and if you were in Scottsdale Four Peaks tonight you heard it because my buddy said it waaaaay too loud, "If Tiger gets caught, we're all fucked." Golf has flown under the radar. It's like the tennis tour, everyone knows, but nobody talks about it. Wives know. Girlfriends know. A girl I know was "exclusive" with Nick Dougherty, or so she thought until he accidentally invited both girls to the same tournament.

Boys will be boys. But this is JFK-level shit inside the golf world.

This forum is for politics. Golf is not politics. I really don't care if Tiger's wife was fucking him with the golf club, or hitting him in the head or what. Please take this to the coffee shop!
