I have been somewhat amazed that Sarah Palin was given shit for the death panel comment. It was pretty obvious that she didn't mean that there would be a secret panel that went over every person's medical record and gave a thumbs up or thumbs down. It's about bureaucrats defining profiles of who would receive what kind of care for different maladies....or at what point the care is defined as "making them comfortable". and it seems like Palin nailed it on the head.
