It is really sad, but also alarming. Scientific illiteracy in this country will lead to economic decline. When enough of our population is ignorant and unable to make rational decisions on complex issues like global warming, it leads to the US missing massive economic opportunities, which other countries won't miss. That is my biggest fear. Ignorance more than anything will lead us straight to second class status.
