People like Palin do not read. Ever. They have no interest whatsoever in ideas. Four years on the north slope with southern pipeliners and I do not remember even one person reading anything substantive. I go into a lot of houses. Usually conservative houses are sterile. No books. A big TV set and a bible, but no books. When I go into liberal houses as often as not, I will find books and book shelves. You cannot reason with the right wing because they are functionally illiterate.
