I have to admit, when I was a bleeding heart, I was once discharged from jury duty because I refused to consider a life sentence for armed robbery since nobody was injured -- and the defendant was an adult (today, I'd have no problem with such a conviction, having grown up since then). But an effective life sentence for a 17 year old kid is a bit much under those circumstances. Of course, Huck is a far better orator than Dukakis (or any other person who has run for the presidency since Reagan, I suspect). So, he may be able to explain his actions satisfactorily. My inclination is he is too soft on crime.
