<The gusher of money> The sums quoted in the opinion piece are rounding errors in the research budgets of major research universities. And do you know where that money goes? Half goes into overheads before the end of the day when it is received. Most of the rest goes into lab costs and graduate students. The dollars are pennies on the floor in the world of science. I am surprised they got such meager funding.
