Throat & nasal drying was an issue for me too, but I'm a whirling dervish once I fall asleep so I kept waking up either from the tube choking me or the noise from the CPAP when the seal breaks.

It all was made worse by my off the charts claustrophobia. Being tethered to the CPAP & knowing I should lay completely still on my back was the straw that broke that camel's back.
