If Obama were a brave CIC, he would have made that speech in a venue less safe from negative vocal reactions----like before Congress.

I lol'd when I heard him use the word "terrorists". When was the lexicon changed back to "terrorism" from "man made disasters"?

I haven't read the text of the speech, but did note a few telltale "let me be clear" moments. As we all know by now, "let me be clear" is a prelude to a whopper.

My overall take on the speech was that it was his effort to look tough, defend his indefensible dithering, and please his base at the same time. That's why we got a premature---and unnecessary--18 month withdrawal date.

That was BHO's effort to vote "present" on this entire deal, while trying to look tough. Like an urban cowboy riding a mechanical bull.<g>

Maybe O wants everyone to remember that, just in case they forgot...Narcissistic people do things like that.

OR maybe he's trying to remind himself that he REALLY is POTUS, and should start acting Presidential, and not like a child.

He also threw in several dozen, "As commander in chief, I..."
