I'm not sure that was implicit if even barely so, but in any case 30,000 troops is not what he was implying. My memory is that he just said he would give Afghanistan the attention it needs - implying to me we would THINK about what we were doing there.

It wasnt implicit...it was explicit.

Around the 45 second mark, Obama talks about additional troops in Afghanistan. I doubt that this was the only time that he said it in the campaign.

Well, then, we came away with different impressions. I'm too lazy to go look for the clips but my impression was that he planned to up the ante in Afghanistan and that would involve more troops. But he also said, several times, he would rethink the strategy. Which he did.
