Now you are getting the hang of it Wharfie. It also takes a lot of heat to turn liquid water into gaseous. <Do you think you should tell me it takes a lot of energy to turn ice at 32 degrees into water at 32 degrees? > Note that salty water doesn't behave quite the same as pure water.

A lot of heat is also released when water gas turns to liquid, then snow, and falls in Antarctica and on Ottawa.

You are getting the idea now. Water is a giant heat pump from the equator to the poles. The water is stored at the poles as ice. Ice reflects sun.

Clouds reduce sunlight. They keep heat below them too.

Now you are really getting there.

Soon we will introduced chlorophyll, sand and insolation to help you see the light so to speak.

PS: The Panama Canal locks are not to keep burglars out but to ensure the ships pay the tolls. If they don't pay, the locks don't open. The ships are locked out.
