Definitely not just a "couple" bad apples - thats just spin to minimize the damage. Everyone on the email list were knowledgeable and complicit:

Phil Jones - head of the UK's CRU
Keith Briffa - works for Jones
Michael Mann - debunked hockey stick creator
Tim Osborn - works for Jones
Kevin Trenberth - head of the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. He was a lead author of the 2001 and 2007 IPCC Scientific Assessment of Climate Change
Tom Wigley - Tom Wigley is a climate scientist at the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR).[1] He was named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for his major contributions to climate and carbon-cycle modeling and to climate data analysis, and because he is "one of the world's foremost experts on climate change and one of the most highly cited scientists in the discipline."
Ben Santer - climate researcher at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Robert Wilson
Jonathan Overpeck - U of AZ
Wei-Chyung Wang - star scientist at U of Albany accused of scientific fraud (Wigley admitted in the emails the charge was valid).
Caspar Amman
Eugene Wahl
Gary Funkhouser - U of AZ
Grant Foster
David Parker
Tom Karl - head of the National Climate Data Center, President of the Anerican Meteorological Society

I count 16 at least. Then there are the staffs and coworkers. If Phil Jones is a crook who even Monbiot says should be fired, what about his staff - think they're not crooked too? If they weren't why would they be working with Jones?

BTW most of those named above are BIG NAMES in climate science above. Take them away and what do you have? Who isn't tainted?

Also its not 150 years of climate science but a couple decades. Hubert Lamb who founded the CRU thought solar cycles were the predominate influence on climate. Wigley changed that when he took over. Also recall that in the '70's climate scientists were talking of the dangers of a new ice age.

Wrong conclusion. They had some date, but not all of the data. In fact, global warming science is multi-disciplinary and all branches of it have used different data sets and still pointed to the same conclusion.

I'll give you this, though. Those bad scientists sure did give the deniers one hell of a propaganda platform.
