Or good work like ditching data? Or good work like doing tricky graphical analysis to hide travesty trends? Or getting editors, publishers, researchers and others who disagree with the "settled science" eliminated from the so-called "peer review process"? Or swindling $billions out of electorates, taxpayers and people wanting to burn carbon? Or exaggerating, or lying? Or breaking Freedom of Information laws? Lawyers, doctors, engineers, real estate agents, universities and others have protection of the use of the word describing their professions to prevent charlatans defrauding people. "Scientist" is one of those words which are subject to abuse. Just as "engineer" might be anyone from somebody who designs a CDMA system using swishy Fourier transforms, or designs a hadron collider [an unfortunate example given the failure], a space shuttle [another unfortunate example given the deaths of 7 passengers], a Hubble telescope [another unfortunate example given the ooops in the shape of the lens], to somebody who puts oil on the wheel bearings of trains, "scientist" is used to describe anyone from the inventor of relativity theory to your garden variety stamp collectors who usually confuse correlation with causation. Climatologists fit into the stamp collector category. Atmospherics is steam engine physics. Those fake scientists aren't fit to clean Einstein's shoes, let alone present themselves as also being scientists. Einstein was keen to have data discovered to see whether his theories were in fact correct. As he said, it would take just one experiment to show he was wrong. He was keen to see whether he was right. He didn't hide data, do tricks on the data, suppress anyone who dared to question his theories, lie about the data, throw away disagreeable data, eliminate opposition, threaten to beat up the quantum mechanics physicists, build a political conspiracy to defraud the public out of $billions or $trillions. The word scientist is used very loosely to describe climatologists. I stand by my "snob" post from before the emails were released [not stolen]. Al Gore is not a scientist. When he and the rest of them claim "The Science is Settled", they are lying, basing their lies on false and non-existent data, self-dealing, ring-fencing, conspiring and violent. Mqurice
