In the polar icecaps.

Yes some of it went to the icecaps. Also some went into outer space when the largest metor's hit the earth. Especially the one that killed off the dinosaurs. Theories of where it came from vary, but the most plausable is that the earth passed through a large comet tail of ice and water.
