FWIW it is now snowing in Houston, Texas. Big flakes are coming down and weather report states we'll be receiving one to three inches by evening time. I woke up this morning wondering if the weatherman was correct and a little before noon, looked out my office window in surprise. It's here, but seems to not be sticking to ground yet. I'm tickled for all my little ones, but no driving for me this day.

We visited a couple of Civil War battlefields, where all the statues seemed to be of Southern Generals. I thought that was very curious.

We were down by the White House this afternoon. In Lafayette Park, directly across from the White House is a large equestrian statute, both horse's feet raised in the air (remember what Sgt. Hall told my daughters about this). The statue was labeled only "Jackson." Got me wondering, was it a statue to Stonewall Jackson? I just figured it out - DOH! - it's a statue of Andrew Jackson. Now, what's that say about the convention that both horse's legs in the air mean he died in battle? Don't believe he did.
