<<<Obama's compromising, incremental approach is not, IMO, the leadership style the country needs right now. My guess is that it will lead to small, relatively inconsequential progress with regard to deficits, lackluster economic growth, and rising medical and energy costs.>>>

A benign dictatorship is probably the most efficient form of government. I will go along with that as long as my people are in charge but it was a nightmare for me when Cheney was in charge.

But I agree. I wish Obama was more aggressive. That was why I voted for Hillary. However I don't see any decent person being effective in today's political environment.

I think an LBJ type of character would be more effective but I detested LBJ.

On balance, I am still more optimistic than pessimistic when it comes to Obama, but the Chicago Olympic deal really shook me up.

I agree with you, but feel some sympathy for Obama. The US governance system now more than ever is not amenable to bold, politically unpopular measures. I suppose the crisis is not dire enough for them. Obama may be accused of lack of vision, as I have accused him occasionally, but vision may get him nowhere with the clowns he has to deal with -- including the three ring election circus every couple of years.
