You know what I find interesting about analyst recommendations? The tendency to issue buy ratings near the peak of an uptrend, preceding a drop/correction in price...and sells near the bottom of a prolonged downtrend, preceding a reversal to the upside. This is why I find analyst ratings as extremely questionable and often times, even suspicious.

Now the ones I am more willing to consider as *perhaps* having a few slivers of honest intent, are the ones that offer a target price (making the analyst stick his reputation on the line), and even an accompanying analysis if you're lucky. I've come to look forward to H&Q's comments, they have a decent track record by my own experience. On the opposite side of the coin, I've found Merril Lynch to be a great contrarian indicator -- they'll say anything to get the best prices for their big clients.
