"What is obscure about it? The only big word is isotherm. Break it down. 'iso' is same, 'therm' is well, the obvious. It is an imaginary line of constant temps. The 20 degree one is important in that corals cannot live in water that is below 20 degrees C. Since hard corals are what make up reefs, and reefs are the basis of tropical marine ecologies, they are tracked and have been for a long time. Just off the coast here, is the Flower Gardens, the northern most tropical coral reef in the world. It has been studied for decades.

The ever important isotherm has been moving north since studies began. Maybe, at some point, it will reach Stetson's Bank and that community will transition from mainly sponges to hard corals.

You know, you could have googled 20 degree isotherm instead of just throwing you hands in the air..."

So?
