Won't show up on metal detectors either, when sewn into your clothes for crossing borders ... also easily divisible, chop it, press it, whatever - though i did bust my old garlic press the other day, cheap pot-metal thing, got to get a tougher one, bigger calibre for larger cloves

Trust issues are well covered, to an extent that no artificial construct could hope attain, so a garlic standard could work probably yes, but first you'd have to deal with the durability question, best way to do this might be to transpose over to something that lasts longer in its current form, maybe is more compact for the value as well ... how about converting to gold and silver - that could work, say two to three and a half pounds per ounce Ag [depending on whether you're buying or selling], that's about the effective exchange rate here lately

Garlic resembles the tulip, of course, in that both of these plants grow from from bulbs. So it's quite fitting that the Chinese are having a Garlicomania Bubble. ;)
