I suspect SGS rate is likely overstated per his bias, but the
fact that you can't trust US government statistics is correct.
Nobody knows true inflation rate, and bonds (TIPS vs
treasuries) in a command economy do not reflect it. Rather,
they reflect the market expectation of the next government
number. Most certainly, such semi-command system that lacks
free market mechanism for self-correction is just an accident
waiting to happen.
