I just found out the Europeans are already taxing CO2 at rate of 14 Euros per metric ton of CO2. They are only taxing about 1/3 of the sources, however.

With C = 12 and O = 16, the moelcular weight of CO2 is 44.

One ton of coal produces 3.66 tons of CO2.

Effectively, Coal is being taxed at 51.3 Euros per metric ton.

About 6.54 barralles of oil in a metric ton, so about 7.84 Euros per bbl.
