Ah, yes... but we knew that, didn't we? The Fed has always loved inflation: at least "programmed inflation" and "target inflation". It was built-in to long-range forecasts.

Controlled inflation seems to be a necessary adjunct to fiat money.

The Fed fears what Schumpeter understood: creative destruction.

Deflation is anathema to the Fed because, like a staph infection, it becomes very difficult to control after it begins.

This is one point on which I find it easy to disagree with the Austrians.
