"I'm thinking seriously about shorting 'em. Another 5 bucks on the down side is entirely possible."

Shorting sounds interesting, but what if someone tries to buy them out, or they offer to be aquired?

Sounds like the plant is worth several times more to Intel than it is to AMD.

Corporate officers like to keep their jobs, but sooner or later the owners need to speakout if something more valuable can be done with their assets.

I don't think a 20% yield sounds too much better than a football coach winning 20%.

Paul Engle, whats the Intel average yield for an established chip?

I don't know about AMD being in deep doo doo but they are definitely caught in a sqeeze. On the upper end Intel takes the cream off the top with the Pentium II's. Because of this, earnings will be hard to come by for AMD. AMD has nohing novel or exclusive like Cyrix and Intel. Cyrix may not get rich right away with the MXi and GX but they won't go broke either and will likely increase market share.
