"Intel's yields for CPUs on a mature technology (0.35 micron, for example) are well north of 70%."

Paul,

Roughly speaking, could that plant then be worth 3.5 times as much in Intels hands than in AMDs, minus the cost to retool?

Could Intel use still more capacity after the DEC deal?

Would AMD sell since they are not profitable? (Always liked your analogy on the more chips they made, the more they lost)

Would DOJ allow it?

(Those K6 jewels may soon be rare and collectable.)

If IBM is going to buy the Merced chip, I wonder if they have any manufacturing space they would like to get rid of?

I see now why INTC stock droped 25%, the future is so bleek and the competition so tough. <g>

PAUL, Is AMD DUMPING( not in their pants, but on the market)? Are they selling their product for less than their cost to manufacture?
