What do anti-climate change folks seem so afraid of?

Perhaps all of the scare tactics put forth by the environmentalists are over the top (and unprovable in the short-term), but why oppose the ramping up of higher efficiency products?

Why not come down on the side of conservatism?

Remember how the world was going to fall apart with one dollar a gallon gasoline?

What happened?

More efficient products and processes.
