Ted, > That's because GW is caused by burning fossil fuels. That makes moot whether CO2 is a pollutant or not. Don't you want cleaner air?

Ever hear of the process which turns coal into natural gas?

Burns much cleaner, but it still emits the same amount of CO2.

That's one example (out of many) of how we are crippling ourselves by needlessly declaring CO2 as a "pollutant." Many options that would otherwise help us get off of Middle Eastern oil are being taken off the table.

Forgetting what CO2 does to plants and global warming, do you know CO2 at very low levels can be toxic to humans?

Toxicity and its effects increase with the concentration of CO2, here given in volume percent of CO2 in the air:

*1%, as can occur in a crowded auditorium with poor ventilation, can cause drowsiness with prolonged exposure.[2]

*At 2% it is mildly narcotic and causes increased blood pressure and pulse rate, and causes reduced hearing.[41]

*At about 5% it causes stimulation of the respiratory centre, dizziness, confusion and difficulty in breathing accompanied by headache and shortness of breath.[41]. In addition at this concentration panic attacks may occur.[43][44]

*At about 8% it causes headache, sweating, dim vision, tremor and loss of consciousness after exposure for between five and ten minutes.[41]

Currently, CO2 is a trace gas. Do you really want to see it get up to even 1%?

And CO2 is not the only hazardous gas released by coal liquefaction. The process also releases NO2 and SO2 both of which are more toxic to man.

GE has a new process that recaptures the CO2 and the other noxious gases....maybe it will be successful:

Until GE's process is doable, coal liquefaction is a pipedream.

Ted confuses CO2 with particulates. He doen't really know what either one is and lumps them together.
