My furnace has all those features, like running on after temp has been reached. The problem is probably a poorly built 35 year old town home. I've added extra insulation in the attic and replaced the two largest glass areas with double panes and a new front door.

This morning I learned our overnight low set a new record, since 1972, at 16 degrees below zero. Most furnaces would find that pretty challenging to contend with. Mine has run steady since sometime in the middle of the night. As I type the temp is still in the minus category so I don't look for the furnace to get much relief today. Our forecast high is only +20 for the day.

Global warming my A**!!! The entire nation is freezing.
