It's a simple case of doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Then when the same things happen, they blame everyone who isn't "tough on" the issue, not the obviously ineffective policy.

It's one of the more moronic terminal do-loops in American politics.

I don't get the attraction. Anyone who can read can find out the drug "war" hasn't worked

1)It's just a continuation of the culture wars that began in the 1960s.

"We'll show those damned hippies a thing or two. We'll put them in jail."

2) There are too many vested interests like law enforcement and for profit prisons .
