willyb, I suspect that isotretinoid is the same as isotretinoin. Tretinoin has been around forever. It is also called ATRA (all-trans retinoic acid) and is the active ingredient in JNJ's Retin-A, Renova, and Roche's Vesinoid. An isomer of that compound is isotretinoin which is also called 13-cis retinoic acid. It is the active ingredient in Roche's Accutane. These retinoids act through RARs as does AGN's Tazarotene, and LGND's ALRT1550 (or LGD1550). They are used for acne as well as other skin problems such as psoriasis and wrinkles. There are side effects and the anti-retinoid being developed by AGN (LGND gets royalties) is designed to address theses side effects and an IND should be filed soon.
