Good article. I'm not much of a sports fan but that story touched me. My neighbor was a promising athlete going to high school this year and an honors student but couldn't pass the physical do to a hernia. He's a good kid who I've asked to leave his window open when he's practicing his cello. The first time I heard him I thought he was playing a CD. I asked what a black teen like him from our low class neighborhood was doing listening to classic music. Some times I say real dumb things, but if I had to pick between watching him run with a ball or play his cello it would be no contest. He's a polite boy living with a single mom who speaks with a heavy foreign accent, and a baby sister, and he plays that cello beautifully.
