Dale, to change the topic, is your government insurance coverage (assuming you are on your wife's plan) Blue Cross?

The proposal is to offer a non-profit insurance company choice similar to that of govt. employees. Is that Blue Cross or are there other non-profits in the health insurance arena?

As I've said before, Blue Cross dominates the state of Arkansas. I've been on some form of it almost my whole adult life, and it now is my Medicare supplement.

I have no complaints and have never had any problems or know anyone who has. It has always seemed that the policy was very straightforward about the coverage limits, etc. No surprises.

This is a long way of saying that a mental picture of the whole country morphing into Blue Cross coverage doesn't sound half-bad compared to the Govt. starting up a program from scratch. The Blue Cross 'infrastructure', for lack of a better word, is in place. It could be bulked out just by hiring and training more people.
