they are flooded by FOI requests because wingnut bloggers are convinced that they can do a better analysis. If they want data, there are plenty of sources.

two problems with that:

1. The data should be able to stand on it's own.

2. Data other than from the CRU would be dismissed as not "the real data" right from the beginning.

The partisanship seems to be rather one sided in this case, not true to the scientific method nor review and obviously it has gone political way too early to do science now without being accused of an agenda.
