I saw this description of an R......I think its pretty apt. "I think the answer is far more simple. These people are deeply ignorant. Dumber than dirt. Unable to grasp basic black/white empirical realities staring them straight in the face. But more than that, they are malignantly selfish. Any social or governmental gesture that would in any way impinge on their property, financial worth or ability to exploit other people - even if that gesture would in the long run accrue to their financial benefit - must be opposed at all cost. Anyone not sharing their backward views must be punished. And, they’ll grab onto any stray bit of trivia, fantasy or legend in order to make their case. The intellectual contortions they need to go through in order sustain their fantasy world leads to flamboyanlty crazy arguments, such as Jonah Goldberg making the case that 1st grade teachers who advocate for healthier snacks for students are analogous to Third Reich SS enforcers."
