When you consider those who agree you the only qualified experts to perform a peer review, you can reach any bogus conclusion you feel like.

Actually I don't think the CRU was that blatant. But they definately let their political views bias their results. The problem with tree ring data is to know a good range of temperatures to match it to, even then I doubt they would be very accurate and more so as time would go on. I suspect if you look hard enough you could find historical accounts of actual temperature recordings. Not official perhaps, but the only thing around to try to match to past tree ring data to keep the errors from further divergence.
