Blaming the pawns in this situation is misplaced, big time.

You really think that all those people that were using their houses as ATM machines were pawns? Or the people who were speculating in real estate? Or the people taking out stated income loans? Or the people who put nothing down and took interest only loans? How about the people who were taking out NINJA (No income, no job or asset) loans?

Sorry, there were some who were pawns, but there were many who were simply caught by their own greed.

BTW, I blame the banks as well as any number of other players in the game. However, I find your assertion that people taking out loans that they couldnt afford to have no culpability to be ludicrous.
