I had very high hopes for Obama -- and he has NOT convinced me or most of the country that the escalation of the war in Afghanistan is absolutely necessary...Why spend tens of billions of our tax dollars on war games when we have so many citizens in our own country who are living in poverty and can't get decent healthcare...?? Does that make sense...?? Is the military industrial complex getting more priority and influence than the needs of the average working class citizens...?? That's NOT supposed to happen when "a progressive" president is in the White House....I wanted Obama to get rid of folks like Sec of Defense Gates and surround himself with a team that was committed to getting out of Iraq and Afghanistan in record time...I wanted Obama to JUST SAY NO to more wars and tell the Defense Contractors that they will take A VERY BIG haircut during his administration...This takes immense courage and very few presidents would ever be able to do this.
